Summer camps in Atlanta have a lot going for them—warm weather, lush landscapes outside the city, close proximity to all sorts of specialized facilities, and some world class camp programs right in the area. Here are five of our favorite Georgia summer camps for kids and teens in and around Atlanta.
1. Atlanta Workshop PlayersIf your kids are psyched about the performing arts, there’s no better place to be than Brandon Hall School (whether in person or virtually!) in Atlanta this summer. That’s the home base of the Atlanta Workshop Players, one of the top Atlanta summer camps for professional-level arts training across all ages and skill levels. AWP believes in more than arts education. Their programs are about embracing uniqueness, living out our passions, and reaching our full potential. At the same time, your campers will make strong industry connections with industry celebrities and meet like-minded lifelong friends!
2. Club SciKidzFew Atlanta summer camps can compete with the STEM and STEAM programming of Club SciKidz, which offers 60 unique themed camps that range diverse interest areas including:
The highly experienced counselors know how to combine art and science, too, with new STEAM programming around themes like American Girl, Harry Potter, Marvel Stop Motion Animation, and Manga Maker. They host focused day summer camps in Atlanta for kids across several age groups ranging from 3 to 15 and older, with before-care and after-care available!
3. Imagine That! and Future TechWe said few camps could compete with the last one, but Imagine That! is certainly one of those few. The exciting STEAM programming from their annual Atlanta summer camps includes explorations of drones, 3D printing, gaming, robotics, minecraft, sewing, art, and technology. Even better, they have more than a dozen locations throughout the Greater Atlanta area to choose from.
4. Camp Blue RidgeParents on the hunt for a sleepaway camp with plenty of outdoor fun are in luck. Camp Blue Ridge is nestled in the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains of northern Georgia, only a 2-hour jaunt from Atlanta. This activity-oriented outdoor camp lets your children aged 6-16 roam the 250-acre grounds while engaging on over 55 on-campus activities. During a 2, 5, or 7-week program (your choice!), your campers could enjoy elective-style offerings such as boating, skateboarding, drama, piano, football, martial arts, gymnastics, arts and crafts, virtual reality, horseback riding, white water rafting, a trip to Six Flags Over Georgia, and more!
5. Zone Of Light StudioThe art-based themes at Zone of Light Studio will help your camper’s imagination flourish over 11 possible weeks of fun, non-competitive summer programming. Kids aged 5-15 can enjoy full and half-day programs (with extended care available!) right in Atlanta at a 9,000 square-foot reimagined warehouse space near Emory University. From daily nature walks down to the nearby Nickel Bottom Creek to the awesome Black Light Room, Zone of Light has a little something for everyone.
