It's not every day that you come across a unique and transformative opportunity that can shape your children's understanding of the world around them. Here at Camp SEA Lab, we offer just that—a nautical wonderland for your child to explore, learn, and grow in ways that are both educationally enriching and fun.
Nestled in Monterey Bay, California, Camp SEA Lab stands as a beacon of marine science education and adventure. With programs that seamlessly combine science, education, and water sports, we masterfully create an environment that nurtures lifelong excitement, understanding, and stewardship of our coasts and ocean in young campers.
What we offer is an immersive portal to the wonders of the marine world, from the top of the watershed to the deep sea. Children gain invaluable appreciation for what science can teach them about our world—highlighting the importance of being good ocean stewards along the way.
The summer months at Camp SEA Lab buzz with energy as programs kick off mid-June through early August. We provide a range of day camps for children ages 8-15, and for a more immersive experience, overnight camps for ages 10-15 are held at Stevenson School in Pebble Beach.
Not only will your child grapple with marine science activities and conservation topics, but they'll also partake in a sea of water sports like surfing, snorkeling, kayaking, and boogie boarding. And for older campers (ages 13-16), five-day sailing adventures leave from Monterey and Sausalito, creating unforgettable life experiences. Think outside the traditional classroom box. With Camp SEA Lab, we offer a three-day, two-night residential science camp program for grades 4-8 during the fall and spring seasons. Our outdoor school is situated in our idyllic locations in Aptos/Seascape, California, where education leaps off the page and into the natural world.
Children dive deep into NGSS activities such as sand crab monitoring, plankton labs, and squid dissections. Alongside these scientific explorations, additional activities like kayaking, coastal exploration, and campfires on the beach add a dash of unforgettable memories.
Our history is rooted in community collaboration and a shared vision to increase the accessibility of marine science education. Back in 1997, a group of local teachers, scientists, and resource managers rallied together to bring this vision to life. Through dedicated partnerships and the support of organizations like the Packard Foundation, California Sea Grant, and the California Coastal Commission, Camp SEA Lab was born.
Today, we continue to expand on this legacy, with a substantial annual program that caters to 3,000 local youths through both our outdoor school and summer camp programs. We are also proud to have reached the milestone of serving over 25,000 youth.
Your children's adventure in understanding the world beneath the waves starts at Camp SEA Lab. It's more than just a summer camp; it's an opportunity to unlock their potential and inspire the next generation of ocean stewards.
Choose to invest in a summer of learning, adventure, and lifelong memories with Camp SEA Lab. Together, we can ride the tide towards a brighter future for our children, our oceans, and our planet. Adventure awaits—dive in!
